WORKINGTON TOWN’S community manager Marnie Jackson was on a high at their final home game of the season.

Marnie performed with the club’s official cheerleaders after the game and was hoisted up on to their shoulders to finish the routine in style.

But she was delighted with the final outcome – a cheque for £320 for the RNLI, with the sponsorship money she raised.

Marnie trained with the Heroes Cheerleaders, of Carlisle, ahead of her special guest appearance at Sunday’s game with Gateshead Thunder.

She said: “The whole experience has been brilliant and I am amazed how much I have come on myself, I have been undertaking gymnastic training as well as learning how to be a base and flyer, combined with dance to fit into the routine.”

Marnie added: “It was scary being lifted up in practice but when I was on the field I didn’t notice as much, the adrenaline just kicked in and got me through.”

She thanked the Heroes squad for all their help, throughout the season and for this special event.

n HEROES held a show at the Sands Centre Carlisle from which they donated £1,000 to the Workington Town Community Development Foundation, which will go towards providing disadvantaged children and community groups with the opportunity to participate in Rugby League.
