Copeland wins sporting status accolade

Copeland council has came top in the county for helping its sports clubs become more professional.

The council’s sports development staff support clubs with junior sections in achieving Clubmark status.

This means clubs are well managed, with high standards on and off the pitch.

Copeland has helped more clubs get there than any other district in Cumbria.

Clubmark has been achieved by 17 clubs in the borough compared to between six and 16 in other districts. And Copeland is the only district which looks set to exceed the target set for 2012.

If any sports clubs with junior sections would like to work towards achieving it, they should contact Copeland Borough Council on 01946 593042 or 593043.
