Whitehaven ace Ade Adebisi gets all-clear after car crash

Whitehaven's flying winger Ade Adebisi will be okay to start training this weekend – despite being involved in a car accident.

Adebisi, the club’s top try scorer last term, was a passenger in the car which swerved to avoid a fox last week and crashed.

Luckily the Whitehaven star was not hurt and he will be fit and ready when the squad go back into training on Sunday.

His coach, Ged Stokes, said: “He has been very lucky, all the people in the car have been from what I hear.

“Thankfully he was not really hurt just a bit shook up and he will be okay to train.”

The winger crossed only twice in his first seven matches as he bedded in to his new club, but he went on to score 22 in 30 matches, missing only one game.

His 10 tries in the last 10 matches of the campaign marked him out as a classy finisher.

Stokes is looking forward to getting his players back in training at the weekend and to prepare for next season.

He added: “We had quite an extended season so I gave the lads a couple of extra weeks off but now we are ready to get back.”

All the players and their families will be heading to the Recreation Ground tonight for an orientation evening.

Stokes is keen for the players’ families to be fully involved with the club and he hopes to outline their plans for the season.

He said: “We will outline our goals and ambitions for the new season.

“Families contribute a lot as well so it is nice to get them involved and see what the players have to do and the time that is taken out of their lives.”
