Comets v Stoke called off

Tonight’s Premier League speedway match between Workington Comets and Stoke Potters has been called-off.
With rain starting to fall heavily in late morning and with up to 14 millimetres of rain forecast before start time, it was decided to pull the plug.
A new date has been agreed for Friday, September 19 but that is subject to approval from Workington Town rugby league club, which is in charge of Derwent Park.
Comets aren’t in action again until next Saturday when they are due to ride against Newcastle Diamonds.
