Carlisle United fans gave us their reaction on social media platform X after the 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town - here's a selection of their comments.

A depressing performance. The players are better than that. The season can't end quickly enough. (@cufcfanvote - Graeme)

Another sad and frustrating day out. We’re looking for any positives whilst knowing that we need a major overhaul of players (and some coaches?) in the summer. Give us some moments to remember over the next few games please Blues (@tim_martland)

It just emphasises how bad Burton must be! Lack any creativity and can't keep clean sheets, not a good combination (@ticketaddict)

Gonna go down as one of the worst squads in recent memory. And I can’t see how it’s gonna change in league two. Surely you would wanna instil the playing style and shape now with who you want to keep. Marcelo Bielsa available? (@CameronEllis_)

Toothless in attack, nervous at the back…. (@Invisiblebear84)

Same as usual, very depressing. No words to describe this team anymore..... (@PaulLighty24910)

Just another variation on a tedious losing theme. Not going to waste my time trying to find any positives. (@mlgraham73)

Ah well another defeat. Not often we can say we have had the better chances and should have taken all 3 points against a very limited Shrewsbury (@MartinCrellin1)

Sad to say that these players are just going through the motions. First half abysmal, second half not much better. Same old predictable format, not one player looked like he was capable of producing anything positive. There needs to be major changes to playing/coaching staff. (@peterjo91525330)

Two bald men fighting over a comb (@krisfoster)

The XG was 1.32 - 0.56 which tells you 3 things: 1) Lewis was poor for the goal but made some decent saves; 2) Lavelle’s chance wasn’t that good (only 0.3 XG); 3) We just didn’t make enough chances (@ostrichtowers)

That was eleven footballers expecting to lose. That was eleven footballers expecting to be somewhere else next season. Their coach is expecting to be leading a different eleven footballers to promotion very soon. I am not so optimistic (@samiaegean)

Shrewsbury had won one home league game since November before today and we didn’t even lay a glove on them first half. You can’t continually dig players out letting them know they’ve no future at the club then expect them to run through brick walls for you on Saturday afternoon (@Wisey6575)

Best to say nowt. Looking forward to August. (@NotInSeddon)
