You’re not singing anymore... leave that to Andrew

FOOTBALL crowds and choirboys do not usually go together.

Sing when you’re winning: Andrew Johnston could perform at Brunton Park

This could change though, thanks to Carlisle chorister Andrew Johnston.

It has been suggested that the 13-year-old star of ITV1 show Britain’s Got Talent could sing for the crowd at Carlisle United’s final home game of the season, against Bournemouth this Saturday.

One fan wrote on the News & Star website: “If that doesn’t lift the crowd and players nothing will.”

And it might just work. Andrew appears to have captured the hearts of the nation with a magnificent rendition of Pie Jesu during his audition.

The question is, would even Andrew’s beautiful voice be able to melt the aggressive fervour of a vital end-of-season football match?

If Pie Jesu didn’t do the trick, Andrew might consider the old pro’s trick of adapting his repertoire to suit his audience.

That sweet soprano voice would sound wonderful singing such Brunton Park classics as 1-0 to the Cumbrians, Who are ye?, You must have come in a taxi, and, as a memorable finale, the classic You’re going home in a Carlisle ambulance.

The latest - sweat reduction - sounds appealing
