Volunteers impact on profession
Last updated 11:34, Friday, 09 May 2008
I HAVE recently met a man who is an accomplished drystone waller, hedge layer and true nature lover.
Vital skill: Although volunteers can be helpful when maintaining the infrastructure of the Lakes and county, there needs to be enough work for professionals to keep up rural trades
He has been struggling to get by on benefits for one-and-a-half years because there is no work for him due to the ever-increasing trend of ‘employing’ voluntary workers in this field.
Is there anyway in which we can help alleviate his situation?
Comments please.
