Major parts of the city are being dug up, torn down, and making way for new developments aimed at rejuvenating the are, as photos show below.

The Pools on James Street is undergoing preparatory work until after Easter when the council will start demolition work.

The work is exceedingly complex, the council said, because of care required to not affect the neighbouring Turkish Baths building.

Devonshire Street is being torn up to be pedestrianised, in hopes the new look will appeal to cafe culture and offer a more modern look, sure to appease new students due this decade.

Works are ongoing till summer with delays for motorists in the city, but the council is positive the work will benefit the area and its residents, while the bulk of work regarding the English Street redevelopments is yet to come.
