PLANS for a further 107 homes at a major housing development are moving forward.

Story Homes was given the green light last year to build houses on land to the west of Valley View Road in Whitehaven, as part of the Edgehill Park development currently under construction.

Works on the latest phase are due to begin in April. Revised details have been lodged with the plans which include amendments to the approved garages on certain plots and amendments to the swale and pond as part of the drainage system.

Story Homes has been building new houses in Whitehaven for more than 13 years now and the latest plans will see it continue its presence within the town until at least 2027.

Once the new phase is complete, the developer will have delivered almost 600 ‘high quality’ homes in the town across four different developments, its first being Magellan Park, which launched in 2010.

Carreana Taylor, Sales Manager for Story Homes Cumbria & Scotland said: “It’s been a pleasure to watch as our developments have regenerated this area of the town, making it a desirable location for young adults and families alike.

“Edgehill Park is now home to hundreds of people, and it’s great to see these new communities grow and thrive.

“I’m proud of what our business has achieved here, and I’m thrilled that this latest planning consent will allow us to continue delivering our high quality homes in this location.”

The proposed development includes five two-bed, 39 three-bed, and 63 four-plus-bedroom properties.

Access will be via two new access roads connecting to the existing highway serving phase three of the approved Edgehill Park residential development.

The proposals also include the provision of affordable homes and new open spaces which will be available for use by both new and existing residents.

A new feature of this phase will be the inclusion of electric vehicle charging points, which will be fitted to each home.
