A CUMBRIAN war veteran attended a military charity event in Lancashire this week.

Mark Harding of Wigton attended the event in Burnley recently.

Whilst serving in Afghanistan in 2010, Mark was severely injured after being shot in the neck and told he would never walk again.

Over the years he has managed to regain some of his mobility and has taken on several fundraising challenges to support causes close to his heart.

Mr Harding said: "What a fantastic evening we had at the Healthier Heroes CIC Masquerade Ball at the Burnley Football Club.

" It was an exuberant night filled with joy and laughter. It was great to see Adam Diver, Mark Mangnall, and Chris Maycock.

"The event was not just about fun and celebration; it was a heartfelt gathering dedicated to raising funds for our brave veterans - a cause close to my heart, especially as someone who has served alongside them.

"Healthier Heroes CIC tirelessly works to uplift our veterans, addressing issues such as social isolation, homelessness, and mental health.

"They have created a unique program rooted in the principles of unite, inspire, and believe, which serves as a guiding light for those who have bravely served our nation.

"Through their Bancroft House initiative, they offer a nurturing and supportive living environment for veterans.

"This project strives to provide a solid foundation for our veterans to rebuild their lives and reconnect with their loved ones.

"I'd like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Andrew Powell and his dedicated team for their relentless efforts in supporting our veterans. It's a noble cause that deserves our utmost support.

"Let's join together to bolster this remarkable endeavor and aid our veterans in regaining their strength and purpose. Together, we can create a community of hope, support, and opportunity for those who deserve it the most."
