A WAR veteran who spends his time raising money for charity met the Prime Minister.

Mark Harding of Cumbria met Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at a ceremony in London over the Remembrance weekend.

Mr Sunak praised Mark for his charity work and was presented with a commemorative pair of cufflinks by the veteran.

Mr Harding said: "I got invited down to Downing Street because of everything I've done for the veterans community.

"It was quite an honour to be able to go to Downing Street and be thanked for what I've done."

In 2010, Mark was severely injured whilst serving in Afghanistan and told that he would never walk again.

Over the years he has regained some of his mobility and now spends his time taking part in fundraising challenges for military-based challenges.

Most recently he did a cross-country walk to raise money for Scotty's Little Soldiers which helps children whose parents served in the military.

Mr Harding continued: "There were so many veterans there who are doing a similar thing to me, it's quite humbling to be in the same presence as people who have the same mindset as me."
