Hundreds of Carlisle locals marked Remembrance Sunday at the city's war memorial.
Dignitaries, politicians, emergency workers, veterans and armed forces personnel united with the public at the Cenotaph, Rickerby Park at 2.30pm (November 12).
Amid prayers, the crowd, led by Mayor Abdul Hamid, paid their respects with a series of wreathes.
Joined by MP John Stevenson and Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, Col Peter McCall, they solemnly saluted the fallen.
Veterans' associations, the Royal British Legion, naval, army and air cadets, and younger members representing scouts and guides followed, each contributing their own tributes.
Prior to the event, Peter McCall, Cumbria's Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, said: “Remembrance Sunday is poignant for those who have served the nation, and their families.
"It is an annual reflection, a time to remember friends and colleagues who suffered injury and even the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country.
"The least we can do to honour those brave men and women is to remember and acknowledge their selfless sacrifice.”
