AT the eleventh hour today Carlisle fell silent as the city marked Remembrance Day.
A large crowd, of various ages, gathered in the city's Greenmarket in unity today to honor and remember the sacrifices of the nation's fallen heroes (November 11).
Veterans, families, and local dignitaries including Mayor Abdul Harid were in attendance, wearing poppies as a symbol of remembrance, at the war memorial.
Tomorrow (November 12) at 10am, there will be a service at Carlisle Cathedral, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the cenotaph at 11am.
On November 12 there will also be a service in Rickerby Park at 2.30pm.
