THE FIRST keep-fit fanatics have been enjoying Cockermouth Leisure Centre’s new-look facilities after a £1 million revamp.
The centre was officially opened on Friday by Allerdale mayor Ron Munby and rally driver Malcolm Wilson, 21.
New activities at the centre include boxercise, pilates, 50 plus exercise classes, high energy classes, ab-attack and the return of aquacise in the pool.
Leisure centre manager Julia Tyson said: “It is fantastic for the people of Cumbria and surrounding areas. The opportunity came forward because of the partnership between Carlisle Leisure Ltd and Allerdale Borough Council. People said it has been well worth waiting for.”
The facilities include a new activities studio and spacious reception area, the refurbishment of the swimming pool and changing rooms, an extension to the fitness suite and new meeting rooms for the local community.
