TWO workmen were seriously injured after plummeting 40ft through the floor of a country house.
The men, both from Workington, fell through the first floor of Bell How house in Tallentire, near Cockermouth, at around 4pm yesterday.
One man was airlifted to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with serious leg and neck injuries.
The other, aged 20, was taken to the West Cumberland Infirmary, Whitehaven, by road with back injuries.
It is believed the floor collapsed and the men were part of a team of contractors renovating the house.
Fire crews attended from Workington and Cockermouth and assisted paramedics in pulling the men from the building.
A Health and Safety Executive spokesman said this morning they had been informed of the incident.
