FIVE extra types of sausages and bacon from Cumbria's famous meat specialists Richard Woodall of Waberthwaite are now available at Tesco.
Woodalls, who supply meat by royal appointment to the Queen, have already had their traditional air-dried ham on sale at Tesco outlets across Cumbria for a couple of years, along with three lines of pre-packed bacon.
Tesco stores with meat counters have also been serving Woodalls award-winning Cumberland sausages as part of a special link-up to promote local food producers.
Now three more types of sausage – country pork, pork chipolata and pork and herb – along with country smoked and country unsmoked bacon are being listed by Tesco as well.
A free tasting session is being held at Carlisle's Rosehill store on Friday, May 16 at 10am to give shoppers a chance to sample the new products.
Vince Lydon, manager of Tesco’s Rosehill store, said: “These new products really enhance our range of locally-produced quality food. The big thing is the local element. Our customers want to support local producers and we are glad to oblige.”
