Farmers’ market to open longer

THE launch of Whitehaven’s new farmer and craft market last week was so successful that it is extending its opening times.
The market, at the United Reformed Church Hall, was a huge hit selling a wide variety of home-grown produce and crafts.
Martin Gerrish, chairman of the James Street traders group, and owner of The Tenth Bull shop, said: “In these times when we tend to hear more about market failures than successes, it feels heartening to be able to share something positive.’’
The last week’s market was open from 10am-2pm, but the next event will be extended to 3pm.
The next market will be held on November 8 with a special Christmas Market and Festival on December 13.
