THE Eden Valley Wholefoods store in Carlisle’s indoor market is under new management.
Husband and wife Adam and Dawn Thompson-Howard have packed up their sandwich business to take over the shop.
Dawn said: “We had the Sandwich Factory, by the railway station for four years and it was nice to do for a while but we wanted to run a shop.
“I’m vegan and Adam has a liver condition and has to watch what he eats, so this sort of business appealed.
“We are aiming to improve on the gluten and dairy-free ranges on offer and introduce a range of natural skincare products.
“You can get skincare bits and pieces in Carlisle if you look carefully for them, but we are hoping to have a good range here and you will be able to order products in.”
The store now stocks a wide range of Suma organic and wholefood foods and the Ecover range of ecological cleaners.
Skincare products include Toms of Maine, Pit Rock and Weleda.
Four weeks into their new business, some of the products are being stocked or reintroduced at the request of customers.
“The customers are all so chatty and friendly and they appreciate you making the effort to get stock in.”
Future plans include selling cakes and bakes home-made by Dawn and Adam and stocking vitamins and supplements.
Dawn is already gearing up for Christmas: “We will be looking to stock dairy free chocolates and toiletry giftpacks,” she added.
