Claustrophobia for a cause
Last updated 11:46, Tuesday, 14 October 2008
WIGTON Theatre Club perform the claustrophobic ghost story The Exorcism at the town’s John Peel Theatre from tonight to Saturday next week.
Written in 1971, by Don Taylor, as a response to growing affluence in the West, contrasted with the terrible poverty in places such as Bangladesh, much of the dialogue and action centres around food.
It’s also “a cracking good ghost story,” according to director Liz Chapman.
Rachel and Edmund move to a derelict 17th century cottage and invite four friends for Christmas but, as Liz puts it, “there’s something waiting for them in the cottage... and a reason why it’s derelict...”
A collection will be made for Oxfam at the end of each performance.
All shows start at 7.30pm. Tickets from Station Road Garage. Call 016973 44620.
