In Brief

A NEW exhibition starts at Lowes Court Gallery, Egremont, on Saturday.
Autumn Contrasts will feature the work of two contemporary mixed media landscape artists plus a selection of hand crafted ceramics.
Frances Winder uses a variety of painting materials to produce a surface which is alive with colour and texture.
The resulting images, often comprising several linked sections, range from soft and mellow to dark and moody, though all have a vibrancy stemming directly from the rich tapestry of the countryside.
Chris Jones is well known locally for a range of prints and illustrations.
Many of his most striking works are strong graphic images of west lakeland landscapes, sometimes in monochrome, sometimes tinted with seasonal colours.
Alongside the artwork will be ceramic pieces by Sue Dunne, individually decorated from nature.
Her delicate forms within bowls, beakers, vases and jugs reflect a long-held interest in wild flowers and plants.
It runs until September 30.
