The cream of Whitehaven’s music scene have banded together to produce a new charity CD compilation.
Now That’s What I Call Whitehaven is relesaed today and all proceeds from the CD – which costs £5 – go to the children’s ward at the West Cumberland Hospital.
Singer/songwriter David Eldon is behind the project. “There are kids that have to stay in hospital over Christmas, it must be awful for them,” he says. “I wanted to make their Christmas as good as it could be. The CD and the gig (which takes place on November 28) are hopefully going to make enough money to make that happen.”
David has also laid down a track for the CD, Now You’re Gone, in memory of Peter Nicholson who died in 2002.
Other contributors reads like a who’s who of West Cumbrian music. It features the likes of Mazzoni, The Marratimes, Steph Wars GO, Gavin McKew, and many more. All the tracks have been professionally recorded. A gig takes place on Tuesday to celebrate the album release at Gallachers GL3, hosted by The Mighty Boof, and all proceeds go towards the children’s ward.
“In purchasing this CD you are directly helping your local children have a more enjoyable Christmas,” added David.
Businesses are also invited to contribute to the charity push. So far those on board include Print Point, Shakers, Moor Row FC, Savvy, Paul Jones, The Cutting Room, The Waverley Hotel (Whitehaven), Jink Tattoo Studio, Whitehaven Rugby Union, Gallachers, The Mighty Boof, Shackley & Armstrong Plumbers and Contemporary Menswear.
If any business would be interested in becoming a sponsor for a small donation please contact David on 07793274093.
The CD will be available from Woolworths, Contemporary Menswear, Shakers and Savvy. It costs £5 but people are welcome to donate more if they wish.
