Howl with laughter
Last updated 12:24, Thursday, 06 November 2008
THE Howling Owl, Carlisle’s only regular comedy club, returns to Sprit, on Crosby Street, tomorrow night.
The headliners are acclaimed musical double act Rob and Skatz. Experienced performers in their own right, Rob Gee and Skatz came together just over a year ago and have quickly risen to become headliners at comedy clubs all over the UK.
The pair have pooled their writing and musical talents to create a set of songs which tend to focus on the seedy side of life.
Their clients have included the BBC, football clubs and tourism bodies, as well as comedy festivals.
The pair have a reputation for inducing belly laughs in their audiences – no bad thing considering their line of work.
Howling Owl’s opening act is Ian Fox from Manchester. Fox has had shows at the Edinburgh Fringe for the past few years and his 2006 effort, The Butterfly Effect, had a four-star review on comedy website Chortle while fearsome critic Kate Copstick called Fox “funny, fascinating and engaging”.
There will also be a third performer on Friday night.
Doors 8.30pm (the show begins at 9.30pm). Tickets £6. For details of a comedy night meal deal at Thyme and Place restaurant next door call 01228 599188.
