Lewis in last wicket drama

THE weather washed out most of the Cumbria Junior League programme.

Wigton, who won the Under-15 title in the two preceding years, matched Penrith's effort posting 163-3 with three retirements - A Ledingham 32, J Bullock 30 and R Sowerby 30.

At Under-11 on Monday night Cockermouth ran out winners by just 4 runs over Workington Blue in a thrilling match with Lewis Hill taking a vital last-over wicket for the home side. Earlier Jack Rumney had taken two wickets for Workington Blue.

There were also convincing victories for Wigton and Workington’s first Under-11 side.

Pick of this coming weekend’s ties are the Under-15 matches involving Cockermouth Gold and Cleator and Penrith Gold and Appleby.

Is it a miracle or a crime against nature that a man has given birth to a baby?

Miracle - any new life should be welcomed into the world

Crime against nature - the child will always be labelled a freak

It's not really anyone else's business
