Town set to tackle French bulldozer Tamghart

Workington will batten down the hatches tomorrow when Oldham’s French bulldozer Said Tamghart is fired in to action at Derwent Park (3pm).
The formidable prop has given the Roughyeds a major impact off the bench this term. And he has not gone unnoticed by Dave Rotheram.
“He’s one of the best impact players in the league,” said the Town boss. “He’s someone you pick out because he scatters people. If you let him, he will cause some damage, as he only knows one way, and that’s forward.
“It’s important we get off to a good start and be aggressive with Oldham. They have certainly set some pace this season, but they have played a lot of games without a break and have even had to double up in midweek.
“Hopefully the trip up here and home advantage will work in our favour. But they have a big squad with some talented players, lads who have come out of Super League clubs. And Mick Nanyn, of course.”
Town need three points tomorrow to be sure of maintaining an NL2 play-off slot, though Oldham, in third, are also desperate for a win. A defeat at Derwent Park could spell the end of their title hopes.
Hooker Shaun Lunt’s old back injury has flared up and he is doubtful, while Martyn Wilson also misses out for the hosts. But Jamie Marshall, Ryan Campbell and Mark Routledge all return to the squad.
“Ryan’s been playing really well after coming back from his broken leg, and he’s improved a hell of a lot,” the coach added. “He’s strong and has a bit of speed. He deserves his chance.”
Tamghart’s brother Mohammed will make his debut today for Oldham’s reserve-grade against Workington. The 21-year-old is on trial for a month.
