Marshall KO blow for Town

Workington Town will bid to put back-to-back wins together for the first time this season against visitors Hunslet Hawks tomorrow without new recruit Jamie Marshall (3pm).

The ex-Barrow speedster made his Town debut in the impressive 50-12 win over Blackpool last weekend, where he picked up a knock.

“It looked nothing at the time, but it hasn’t improved this week,” said coach Dave Rotheram. “I’m disappointed for Jamie as he’d made a good start with us.

“He didn’t have that much to do last week, as we were so dominant up the middle. But he showed some nice touches, was aware when returning in-goal kicks, produced some dummy-half runs and helped out his forwards.

“It’s a must-win match for us tomorrow as we can consolidate our place in the top seven.

“We need to get some good form as looking further down the line, we face Doncaster, away, Oldham and Rochdale.

“Though I’d like to think we are making steady improvement and will be able to cope.”

Martyn Wilson will replace Marshall against the Hawks, who have picked up only one win in 12 NL2 matches this term. The Leeds outfit have the poorest attack, scoring only 179 points and conceding a whopping 440, the worst in the division behind London Skolars.

Full-back Luke Rayner is being monitored after picking up a knee injury in the 66-10 home defeat against Oldham last week.

Town hold the last play-off place, ahead of Swinton on points difference, with Rochdale one point behind. But both rival clubs face tough trips tomorrow. The Lions travel to face leaders Gateshead and the Hornets face Northern Rail Cup finalists Doncaster.

Do you think that we will get any sun in September?

Of course! I haven't had a chance to use my BBQ yet

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. September has been nice in recent years

No chance. It's going to rain until next July
