Town eye double signing

Workington Town are tracking a couple of fresh targets as their bid to secure an NL2 play-off place moves in to top gear.
It had been thought that new Aussie recruit Bryce Poisel may be the club’s final major signing of the campaign.
But Town are only three points outside a play-off place and are signalling their ambition to make an impact in the end-of-term series.
“We are looking for the right player at the right price, and we are talking to a couple now,” chairman Dave Bowden said.
“With Robert Lunt, Liam Campbell, Darren King and Neil Frazer all out long-term, we need more strength-in-depth.
“And the players we are talking to could provide cover in several positions.”
Loose-forward Brett Smith, who dropped to reserve-grade last week as he was nursing a slight knock, is expected to return to first-team action against visitors Blackpool Panthers on Sunday.
Blackpool are looking to grab another half-back, despite last week signing Lee Birdseye, from Conference outfit Widnes St Marie’s.
Meanwhile, Town players will model the Marks & Spencer Summer Range in the Workington store from noon to 3pm on Saturday.
And to mark Fathers’ Day on Sunday, Town are offering customers who spend £10 or more on menswear the chance to enter a prize draw to win two VIP tickets for the Blackpool game.
