England will be inspired by Terry's tears

FABIO Capello admits that he was concerned for John Terry’s state of mind before deciding to hand him the captaincy for England’s friendly with the USA at Wembley tonight.

The England boss should stop his worrying right now.

The timing of his decision to hand Terry the responsibility couldn’t have come at a better time for the Chelsea defender who nearly had Moscow on flood alert last week after missing a penalty in the Champions League final.

He’ll be desperate to put the heartache and disappointment behind him by proving to be an inspirational figure who can lead his country to victory.

Terry is a born winner and a usually unflappable character whose mere presence is capable of lifting the dressing room.

Just one look at his tear-stained face last week told you everything you need to know about how much winning means to the him.

That can only be a good thing for England – and he won’t let them down.
